Gary “Litefoot” Davis to Receive National Director’s Special Recognition Award from Department of Commerce

MESA, AZ – Gary Davis, President and CEO of the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development (NCAIED), will receive the National Director’s Special Recognition Award from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA). The award, which recognizes individuals who have made a significant impact on the success of minority business enterprises nationwide, will be presented today by MBDA National Director Alejandra Castillo during the National Minority Supplier Diversity Council Annual Convention in San Diego, Calif.

Lifetime of achievement for Litefoot: Re-release of The Indian in the Cupboard, SevenStar Award recognize the career of famed Native American actor, musician, author, and entrepreneur

2015 marks the 20th Anniversary of the original release of the popular movie The Indian in the Cupboard, starring Gary “Litefoot” Davis as Little Bear. To mark the occasion, Sony Pictures has re-released the movie on Blu-ray, with new features including an interview with Litefoot reflecting on his iconic role and an archival “making-of” featurette. To honor his lifetime of achievement, which includes acting, music, business, and many other fields, Litefoot will receive the SevenStar Award from the Cherokee Nation Historical Society for his role in preserving, promoting and teaching Cherokee history and culture.
