Early on the morning of May 10th Litefoot began a roundtrip journey from Seattle, WA to Tatitlik Village in Alaska that would travel him over 5,350 miles in less than 24 hours. Litefoot spoke to over 200 persons gathered in the Village of Tatitlik, who had come from all over the Prince William Sound area to participate in a conference encouraging tradition and education. Litefoot was asked to be the Keynote speaker for the event and he delivered a message that event organizers described as “…awesome and just what the people needed to hear.” Children gathered on the floor in front of Litefoot as he spoke to a very focused crowd- only to be stopped momentarily by applause whenever he spoke to a point that hit home with the audience. Litefoot received a standing ovation at the end of his speech and thanked the audience and the Tatitlik community for having him in their community. It was his son’s first time to Alaska and Litefoot said, “It was an awesome opportunity for him to visit his relations in Alaska! I know the beauty of Alaska and the experience of this trip and meeting the people of Tatitlik have impacted him in a very positive way! They didn’t want him to leave.” Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy of a day in the life of Litefoot as he journeyed to the beautiful Village of Tatitlik.
