THE DIRECTOR
Strong Hearts: An Indigenous Love Letter To My Sons
“Strong Hearts: An Indigenous Love Letter To My Sons” is an award-winning short film by actor, writer and director, Gary “Litefoot” Davis, is inspired by the words of the Oglala Lakota chief Crazy Horse and is filled with a father’s wisdom and indigenous world view, poetically expressed as a letter to his three sons. Through its raw vulnerable narration and evocative music, a message of strength, beauty and power is conveyed to these indigenous young men, imploring them to live a life of purpose.
The Lyle Thompson Documentary
A documentary on famed Indigenous athlete, Lyle Thompson, capturing his life beyond his athletic achievements, delves deep into his roots and Indigenous worldview and focuses on the cultural and familial ties that have shaped the man we know today. The documentary is an intimate and immersive experience into Lyle’s world, highlighting his journey from a local sports hero to an international lacrosse icon.

The Writer
Writing has always been at the heart of Litefoot’s creative path. What began in high school as a way to escape stress and channel emotion through pen and pad grew into a lifelong practice of storytelling. His earliest writing—hip hop lyrics—laid the foundation for dozens of albums that reached and inspired Indigenous communities across North America. That discipline evolved into authoring The Medicine of Prayer with longtime collaborator Val Woods, and later into screenwriting with Thunder Dreamer, a feature script about the life of Crazy Horse. For Litefoot, writing is more than craft—it is a way of reclaiming narrative for Indigenous people and carrying forward stories that matter.
