Over Above and Beyond
Litefoot performed at The Sheet Ka’ Kwaan Nakahidi Community House for the community of Sitka. He went above and beyond what was asked of him as an entertainer. Besides providing top notch entertainment for a full house, he also delivered an inspirational message to the audience which lauded the virtues of a drug and alcohol free Iifestyle. The response to their visit was overwhelmingly positive. At Mt. Edgecumbe High School, an Indian boarding school, the students kept both Litefoot and Carmen standing outside in the rain for two hours, signing autographs, taking pictures and just talking. Through it all, Litefoot and Carmen were gracious, accommodating and friendly. The impression that they left sparked a feeling of hope among much of the Sitka Native community. They are willing to go the extra mile in order to achieve their goal of spreading a message of hope and determination. I highly recommend them.
Gerald K. Bigelow, Home to School Program Manager, Sitka Tribe of Alaska
Powerful Spirit & Genuine Presence
“There are so many reasons that could explain why you were successful in connecting with our community. The fact that you are Native is certainly a draw to our community members. The fact that you are an accomplished rapper is appealing to the youth. Your skill in speaking and your strong message also attract listeners. However, the strongest reason for your success, I feel, is your powerful spirit and genuine presence. The way you care and the strength of your belief in your message is visible and people can feel it, just by being near you. This was something that I could plainly see, and something I felt myself. Thank you for coming to our tribe and sharing your message.”
Tony Angelis. Education Manager, Upper Skagit Indian Tribe
